sports news article

In the first  season of Norton girls Lacrosse, the players had their  ups and downs.  As a team, they put in 100 percent during practice and especially games. They  focused on improving as team by having game after game. Facing many  tough teams that at times they could've  kept up with them  and other times it was a struggle just to keep up . ''From never playing lacrosse, it was impressive to watch the team grow in their lacrosse abilities''

They  had some great moments that also got close to a win   but never got one. All the players  put 100 percent every chance  they got to play the game. Also As they worked on their skills on and off the field. They continued as a team  to fight hard as they could till the game was over. Sweating and smelly shoes to blisters on their feet, the players  went out on that field and put everything on the line. The girls did not win an official game they improved more and more.. Coach   Mary Pasquantonio had some  tough moments trying to get us to always be on our A game.''The players responded to my coaching, and we were able to have some close games that were a lot of fun to watch. I am looking forward to working with most of the players next year''

The girls   had one specific game where they played Medfield”s Junior Varsity team and they were able to keep up with them and the girls started to play better then them.  They out did us that day but that made the girls   team up and  think about what we have to do differently so that they bring home a win. The girls performance was enough to show that they did their best at practice and during games. The team spirit on the game made the girls want to work hard and but as much effort as they could. Norton left that game upset but knew what they had to do if they wanted to perform better then  Fight for the draw and ground balls. To realized  with more practice they would win.  Improving is the one thing that stuck out in every girl during the season. Just because they weren't the best the skill level and their performance as points were better than other teams they played. To start, the entire team improved their skills.

Another well played game by Norton girls had  was against  the game was a team  Metro. The girls played them earlier in the season and they struggle with their performance against the team. They were playing like it was their first year. Everyone including the coach had the  intention that they girls were bringing home a win. Scoring a lot of goals for the Lancer girls.Ran the ball to score   They kept fighting. The Lancers won  draws. The Lancers had a good opportunity to get a win against them.

The second to last game at home in Norton.. Norton girls lacrosse team played Martha's Vineyard. Knowing they were good scared the girls but made them put this and their effort to get one win on the season. The game with the score being 5 to 0 in the first half . Struggling to get a goal and keep the ball moving was hard. Sticks flying everywhere you turned. Their coach yelling on the  side lines. Martha's Vineyard won 21 to 0 the final score.   Martha's Vineyard girls  played dirty and were sloppy with their skills. Showing that the Lancers were better.  Hearing them swear at the girls and not getting called for it was impressive. Sweating down the field to catch them was what the girls were doing that game. The result of that game was the Lancers lost that game.

Overall throughout the season the girls never had a dull moment. They kept fighting and working hard on and off the field. Keeping a positive outlook on every game they  played that they ended up loosing. They still kept their heads up high and going to improve next season to get a lot of wins. As a team of girls not knowing how to play showed that it's possible to go out there and perform and have skills .Being proud of everything they did on the team is what they want  are going to remember. ''There is always something you can be working on to improve. I think, as a team, your best qualities were your enthusiasm and work ethic. Those are two qualities that cannot be coached, so it was impressive to have in our inaugural season''

SOAPSTONE and Analysis of Marian Jones

S: Marian Jones and reporters high school students

O: Outside the courthouse

A: Reporters Marian Jones high school students that were inspired by her

P: She took performance enhancing drugs to make her perform well and be the best

S: Track and Field at the Olympics

Tone: Sadness, Disappointment and regret that she never started it

                                Summary  on Marian Jones Career

As she shows her journey to everyone. How Marian Jones once was so successful and made her dreams come true from dreaming about it since the age of nine. Why would anyone want to give such a great accomplishment up. No one would. But Marian was faced with a awful choice she made during the games that would change her life forever. She was pressured to take a drug that effects the way you perform. She was performing better than she ever did. Everyone questioned how she was doing this? How was this possible to do? Soon after she was taking the drug people and sources were questioning if a drug was coming into play to make her the best. She was talked if she ever took drugs before. She denied it and said that she would never take drugs and is not going to start. 2007 came along and the facts and rumors were going around that she was going drugs to become the best. She finally made a statement outside the courthouse saying that she did take drugs and she was guilty of lying to FBI agency  and lying to her fans about taking the drugs. She was sentenced to jail for about 6 and a half months for this. How being at the top one minute and going to jail for making a bad choice because you wanted to win. She was breaking the rules and no one knew for  so long because they didn't believe it and they never thought for a minute she would. The person who gave  this to her forced and put it upon her to do it. Pressuring her was a big role that she couldn't control during the whole case against her for taking drugs. The regret she had after she told everyone outside that courthouse that she lied as the tears were running down her face.Struggling in prison to get by day by day waiting for the day she would be released. Coming back from her struggle she was able to recover. To get from the experience to have a new outlook on life. To learn from the mistake she made.

interview with my coach

1. Who do you think was the most improved player on the team?
To start, the entire team improved their skills. From never playing lacrosse, it was impressive to watch the team grow in their lacrosse abilities. Everyone gained better stick skills, and learned about the rules and movements of the game. In my opinion, there were two players who stood out the most for improving not only their lacrosse skills, but their maturity, competitive edge, and positivity. These girls are Michaela Sullivan and Caitlin Landry. They had a turning point in the season where I relied on them to get the ball and take control.

2. In your opinion how do you think our season went?
Our season was not measured by the number of wins, ties, or losses. It was a foundation year that was meant to introduce the new sport to the athletes and instill a love for the game. Because this was my goal, I believe we had a very successful team. Everyone put their heart and soul into every game, and were so excited when we did well. The players responded to my coaching, and we were able to have some close games that were a lot of fun to watch. I am looking forward to working with most of the players next year.

3. Do you think we put in enough effort to try to win a game this season?
Overall, every player put in the effort that was needed to win a game; however, it takes more than just effort to win a game. The important thing was that we did not lose our team moral when we lost, and we always gave our best on the field. As we grow individually and as a team, we will learn the other factors that it takes to win games.

4. Do you think we should work on something more or remove something that we do on the team?
There is always something you can be working on to improve. I think, as a team, your best qualities were your enthusiasm and work ethic. Those are two qualities that cannot be coached, so it was impressive to have in our inaugural season. To improve, all players should work on their stick skills and conditioning. These two aspects make you a better lacrosse player.
5. Do you think we can get a win next season? and how will we be able to next season?
We will be more competitive next season and I believe we will have more than 1 win! We will have a similar schedule, so I believe that we will win the close games that we were unable to finish this year (Bellingham 9-5, Metro 6-5, and Medfield JV 9-9). I am planning on creating two leveled teams: Varsity and JV. Players who work during the offseason and show improvements in stick work and conditioning will be rewarded with their efforts and put onto varsity. Those players who still need fundamental development will be placed on JV. I am doing this so that players will have the ability to get more playing time, as well as playing teams that are similar in skill level to them. At practice, we will work with our teams creating plays and working on ball movement and field awareness.

final draft

Our First ever  season of Norton girls Lacrosse had our ups and downs but as a team we put in 100 percent during practice and especially games. We focused a lot on improving as team by having game after game. Facing a lot of tough teams that at times we could keep up with and other times it was a struggle to get through. We had some great moments that also turned into wins but ever got to that point. Every player has improved so much since the beginning of the season to now. We all put 100 percent every chance we got to play the game. Also as we worked on our skills at practice and our mistakes that we made the last game. To continue to fight and work as hard as we could till the game was over. Sweating and smelly shoes to blisters on your feet you went out on that field and put everything on the line.In my eyes being a team member the score of every game doesn't reflect on how well we did. The score shows we lost but to me we won some games and then it went downhill from their. We had some awful games that at points i started to give up and lose hope that we as a team would broke out of it. We would always break out but play well and then do horrible our next one. Mary our coach had some frustrating moments throughout our season by getting upset with us as a team and calls being made that should have been called. Throughout this season their are mean girls on teams that go over the top and then aggressive players that just wanted to run up and  score a goal and be known as the best. I don't miss getting step on or hit with the ball by my team mates as they would do it by mistake but it hurt so badly. But working hard and running as fast as you can pays off by getting goal is what i learned and more. Seeing that there are so many ways girls play the game makes you want to be known for what you do so people are some what afraid of you during the game. We had one specific game where we tied with Med field Junior Varsity team and we got a goal to beat them and we got to taken away because there was a call that didn't happen. As a team when you are on the sidelines you are freaking out butterflies in your stomach just waiting to  get that last goal with 30 seconds left in the game. And they get the ball and just let the clock run. They out did us that day but that made us as a team think about what we have to do differently so that we can win. Sooner or later we would keep trying to win but at the end of the season there are games that we won by playing better and our skill level has better. To me everyone on our team did a great job on the season and we went out there and put everything on the  line and give it our best shot. The effort we put into every game and our performance made us win.

post 10 ''Thunder and lighting''

In this article the author displays that Muhammad Ali greatest victory over Sonny Liston in the first round by throwing the first move,  ''it was a phantom punch'' Presenting that he has more power over him and  he is stronger. That his performance was reflected more during the fight that the result was  Muhammad  won. To know that Liston put all his effort and strength to try to win. But his effort did not get him to win because his opponent was better. Muhammad come in to this match wanting to win and was going to be tough. This motive  he had  over him was getting the first move to make him get ahead  To get his opponent tried and give up, ''he hovered over Liston'' Another way he beat liston was that he kept on him and on him till he was exhausted.

Teaching Geopolitics

The Article about a teacher named Eric Nelson who was from Lake Forests he grew up with people in his family becoming teachers,'' i couldn't escape it''. Once he graduated from the University Of Wisconsin he went back to Michigan and earned his masters degree in education. The first day he assumed every kid loved to learn just like him but he was wrong. He saw kids that did not want to be successful and kids that wanted to be successful. So he thought about a solution to this problem to make learning fun to get everyone to get into it. He come up with a game called Geopolitics. The way you play is by picking any country in the world and know everything about the country you chose. Soon every student loved this idea and was picking two countries and finding everything out about the country. Every student was getting involved with the game because he made it fun to play. People were really starting to understand what they needed to learn for history. To show that if you make some boring subject that not  many people like into a game people will love it.

S; Eric Nelson and his Students

P: That students were interested in what they had to do till he made it fun to learn the subject

O: School

A: Students and Eric Nelson

Tone: Not  Interested a bad attitude

short game

In the documentary of the Film Short Game was about young golfers ages 7 though 8 year old playing the game of golf. During the course of the film the parents were starting to act like coaches instead of being their parent. They got so caught up with golf they ended up not being like kids or having a social life. That they were married to the sport. All they did was train and train and trying to get better and better. They started to make it more of  job then a fun game. It was only about being the best and winning as much as  they could. They would start getting very upset and not being able to accept if they lost a game. Every hole they were on they were determined to get a good shot. The pressure of being a kid and a golfer was a hard thing for them to face. How if they played a bad game the parents would get angry. Also not remembering that they are only 7 years old that they wont be the best golfer at 7. How much they get into it to the point where they end up becoming competitive kids. Parents cant control themselves when their children looses. But to see how they will end up as adults in life. How this game will effect the rest of their lives. They think their lives need to be about winning.

My opinion about the film is parents need to encourage their kid and be positive weather they win or loose Also to really know if they like playing the game or that they were forced to. Showing how much of  a job it becomes while playing golf. They don't learn how to be social and they have to be adults before they are kids. Maturing very fast and having not make any mistakes or they are punished. They play bad one day and they have to go out and practice before they do anything. Parents need to see that they need to have fun while playing. To not make it a job.

Logos: young kids playing the sport of golf at such a young age

Ethos: Do they really like that they do it?

Pathos: The game is more of  a job instead of a fun game

deflategate scandal towards Brady

In the Article about the Scandal towards Quarterback Tom Brady on the New England patriots was a scandal about how during the AFC Championship game there were deflated footballs that went unnoticed. Halftime came along they saw the issue about the footballs and switched them out with new footballs. This did not effect how the Patriots preformed. They had the skill to just play a great game that they won fair and square by working hard and not giving up till the clock ran out. They were focused and set up good plays to win the game.

Tom Brady is not guilty for the accusations about the Wells Report due to lack of enough evidence from the Nfl officials. That all they have is cell phone records and people saying what they heard and what they have seen. The thing that Tom Brady did wrong was to lie about the whole scandal saying he was unclear about the football pressure and what is up to code for the Nfl standards. That he should have been honest saying that he apologizes for this misunderstand and that next season he will be aware of the issue. But he is sticking to lying which is not good to do. How can he go from lying about in the beginning to confessing about it now? That he needs to say something pretty good to get out of this and put it behind him and start fresh next season.

Tom Brady the start Quarterback was said to have known about this deflated football issue and was not aware about it at the start of the game. The result of the Scandal was in the start of next season he is suspended for 4 games.I Think that 2 games would be better because he is a star quarterback and it was a minor issue that has blown up.  Because according to Wells report he didn't want to say anything about the problem even though he was been aware of it since he has first started playing football in the Nfl. But to have some evidence on him about phone calls they claimed to have seen on this phone to the Patriots equipment director for 20 minutes conversations. But when asked about it he claims that he wasn't talking to him. To say why does the Nfl really have a right to go through your personal life?  The Nfl should not be going though any players cell phone. To find out that the only real evidence they have is Tom s cell phone records for this scandal. Wells just wants to get him out of hatred. To prove that their are Nfl players that have done awful things and Brady is punished for this and loosing playing time season. Nfl needs to have more evidence then just phone records.

A solution to the problem would be to just keep lying because who will really believe him if he really tells the truth? His image will make be looked upon but people will forget and he can get back to playing football. That he will learn from his mistake and continue to do what he does best in the Nfl.

Rhetorical Precis ''schooled' BP#7

Displayed in the Documentary called ''Schooled'' shows how the NFL treats their student athletes training to be pro. How these college athletes forced to put their sport first and then school second. All they are required to do is play the sport of football day by day. The effects are showing that they are not taking  academics seriously.  To see these college athletes struggle to get by in school. Also how hard they work out on the field and they are being worked like they are pro and they don't get paid. Because some students rely on the scholarship to go to college and they can't get food or pay rent to even be able to survive at school and daily life. They need to to support themselves so they can play the best they can. Their families can't provide them with they money to pay for college always. So being able to get extra money being a college athlete will help them a lot .Having to miss so many classes just to play the sport they love is not good for them in the long run. To catch up assignments they haven't worked on. The only real education they are getting is form college.  People are trying to get them to be athlete and a student all at the same time.

JJ Neslon will not get what he earned

The overall message that JJ Nelson is sending to Adidas is that he just wants to get what he earned when he entered in the contest. That he followed every direction he had to. Also he signed everything that he was asked to. He placed top ten in his event with the Adidas cleats he was asked to wear. But there was one thing he didn't sign that was not giving to him. So he never received the money that he was offered to. JJ Nelson knows that he did everything to get the money and the rest of the people got the money but him. So to him and sports nation there was something not right with the situation that we as a reader don't know. Now JJ Nelson is without the money that he earned. But sports nation is . saying that he did not even sign with the company of Adidas. He doesn't care about the money all he cares about is preparing to do his best in his events to place first. The money to him was a great idea but not his main focus. That all he singed a wavier thinking he was in the running to win the prize. He had no idea that you had to sign a contract for Adidas. That he really earned all that money that they offered him. But sports nation thought differently because he never  signed everything that he needed to. They missed something that he had to sign. ,But they never told him till after the race.but Nelson said he wasn't ever given a chance to sign with the brand. Sports nation didn't tell him. It was like a secret to him about what he was getting into.

Sports Lede on the Boston Celtics and the Utah Jazz

Boston Celtics Victory over Utah Jazz by the help of Tyler Zeller .Tyler Zeller banked in a shot from under the basket as time expired to give the Boston Celtics an 85-84 victory over the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night.'' After Boston blew an eight-point lead in the final 2 1/2 minutes, the Celtics called timeout after Gordon Hayward’s fallaway jumper from the right baseline with 1.7 seconds left gave Utah a one-point edge'' Boston had to step it up if they wanted to seal the win for this game. They were not giving up without a fight. The pressure was really on them the last few seconds of the game. To either win for loose. How would it turn out? well they ended up winning their game against the Utah Jazz. It was a good play,” Boston forward Jae Crowder said he told his coach immediately after the basket. “Good audible. He drew up something way different.” That they Celtics really put in all they had to win. But the coach thought the turn out would  be different. How one player was the key focus of the game named Zeller that he made the right move  at the right time.  Zeller made the right          move before the shot. What he did made the whole game turn around on the Celtics. The Celtics, who led by six points after three quarters, pulled to their biggest lead of the game, 66-57, on Thomas' 3-pointer early in the fourth. Celtics really put everything on the line at that moment.

deflated footballs in the NFC Championship Game to the superbowl

The deflated football issue is still being talked about because people say that we played better with deflated footballs. But my opinion is that its the grafts fault that the issue even came about. That they finally fixed it after halftime. That someone in the NFL should have brought their attention earlier during the game.  To really know if we tried to play with deflated footballs or not we still  won the game to make it to the super bowl. We played the well and we put up a fight during the game. Weather the footballs were deflated or not you cant predict the winner till the game is over. The patriots won that game fair and square. The clots were gone by a lot the score was 49 to 7 there would be no way they could have caught up to even come close to beating us during the game. So we played a great game our quarterback Tom Brady was well prepared to beat the clots. Our players were also well trained and went in the game to win. Well the intention to win. Which they did nicely. I don't think were was much more we needed to do to win that game with all that we did.

hoop dreams

In the film hoop dreams displays two teenage black basketball players that lived in the inner city of Chicago. The boys were Arthur and William who there dream was to became pro in the  NBA. When Arthur was ready to go to high school in 8th grade his parents gad enrolled him in a all white school called Saint Josephs high school in Westchester . So Arthur started his first year at his new high school. As he started his year he was reading and learning at a fifth grade level. He was having a hard time in school. He was put on the freshman basketball team at st. Joe high school. Then once we went on to his sophomore year he had to leave his high school due to not being able to pay. So we had to go to his old high school named Marshall high school. Were we ended up failing and had to go to summer school. But the basketball team was better at Marshall high then St Joes was. That Arthur led his team to the city finals and they won. But his whole life was all about basketball. Soon ti became a job instead of a sport. That you had to win all the time. That was what Arthur was used to at St Joes. But at Marshall high they worked with him and they won as a team instead of because Arthur did  not play well. But it got very bad once junior year came around for Arthur because he was trying to do well in school pass SAT test to be able to play basketball in college to get to the NBA one day.As that was his dream ever since he was little boy. That even this brother wanted that for himself to go to college but he wasn't good enough for a college. Arthur ended up going to summer school and taking the SAT's and passed Both and was able to graduate and go to college to play basketball. This brother nearly cried when he found out and was so proud like if he didn't them I made it to. Arthur in his later years kinda made it pro but had a baby and ended up not dropping out of college is sophomore year and didn't go back.

William who was a star at basketball just like Arthur was he when to St Joes as well as well. He started basketball and he was able to go all 4 years to get to have the education that Arthur did not have. But the coach was very tough on him when it came to basketball and we expected a lot out of William. That everyday he would try to be good enough for his coach but nothing was good enough for him. To see William struggle to get by was hard enough for him. Also that basketball was the only time that we could get away from his tough life at home and be a normal teenager. That William was the best player on the basketball was everyone depended  on William to win every game. That if he did not play well or not win the coach would blame it on him that they lost the game instead of every team member and the coach himself. At practice he was the only one getting yelled at by the coach and not the rest of the team. Because the coach only cared about William. After college William got his score on the SAT a 1800 and he was allowed to go to Marquette college to study and play basketball and improve on the sport. That as he was choosing a school everyone and every coach was on him about going to their college. As his parents said to go to the college he wants to go to and to not worry about the money. That they will pay whatever they had to. William never ended up really going to the NBA. That he went on with his life with his girlfriend and daughter he had his junior year in high school.

sports impact our culture

That sports in a big part of the us culture. that they face everyday when they are not playing the sport they love. Also to see how much it gets people to watch to see there reactions towards the sport. That we get so involved today in american sports that it became custom to our culture as a whole. To see people getting so into the sport to never stop watching. The playing of the game can inspire young adults to try to be as good as them one day. Sometimes sports get in the way of stuff and can bring out a negative side in us. If someone does not like the pats for example its not okay. To get so into it that you loose people over something that does not matter,To also see that you can need so much food at events that people cant just sit and watch the game anymore. We always need to have junk around the table. To have friends over that the point is to watch the game . But that it turns into a party. That we get competitive and go into it we forget that it is a game and we get angry if we loose the game. That we need to remember its just a game and if they loose it should be okay. So people just need to relax if they loose and accept it.
How we see sports has a positive effect is that some kids are so good that they can even get a scholarship to go to college. Also to feel apart of a team is a good thing. That you can do something good to make your team win. That it can build up your confidence  if you have a hard time making friends. Also its a good way to have fit and get some physical activity in your daily life. Also to learn teamwork skills as you play the sport you love. To really get involved with your school and have some of your friends even join to. To join a sport to have fun and not care if your not good as everyone else. But to try and  do your best every time you play the sport. Do not be scared to make a mistake because one day you could be the best one on the team. If you do not try you will never know if you could be.
To show that it brings a whole community together as  whole. To give people a chance to show their pride and support for the team. That to me i love sports. I couldn't live without it because i love beieng apart of a team . Also how i try by best every time i play the sport i love.

reaction to the super bowl and super bowl

My reaction to the super bowl was that in the beginning i honestly thought that we were going to lost. Also what i have seen is once we being awful we can never recover from it. Because at first the Sea hawks were killings us in the first half. So i stopped watching because i would have gotten stressed out seeing them loose. But i am so unhappy that i didn't really watch the game. But i saw the last play that the Sea hawks down to get a touchdown. But we took it in and got it to bring home the win to beat them. The fact that they made that play was great. To see if they didn't we would have lost that Superbowl. That we brought that win home. Also to see the last few minutes of thinking to yourself its over. They will not win it all. But to see that amazing comeback was great. That we showed them how if we want to win badly we will do it down to the last few seconds. To be under pressure to win that game.

The Superbowl its self is great opportunity to be a part of and i think it was our time. Finally after a great season to finish it off being number one. To know that we are the best to the best and we wont settle for less. That in the games building up to that one moment was wroth it all. That we are capable of doing that. And we came home with that trophy to show off. The talent and skill shown during the Superbowl was outstanding by far. That my option Butler should have earned MVP. Because he brought our win home. But Tom Brady is a great quarterback in NFL history.
